Very exciting to get a mention in Sribble Awards. Thank you Gwen Bitti for the mention and lovely words about by  haiku.

Another tanka that held my attention was Colleen Keating’s:

outside the window
as we launch his final book
pelican’s circle . . .
no one questions
his presence with us

I found the strength of this tanka lies in the quiet meeting of the natural and human worlds. Without explanation or sentimentality, the circling pelicans, a beautifully crafted pivot line become a symbol of presence and remembrance, with no explanation it allows the reader to feel the depth of the moment.

Eucalypt: a tanka journal Issue 39 2025 ed Julia Thorndyke

I am thrilled to have a one of my new tanka  included in the latest edition of Eucalypt: A Tanka Journal.  Issue 39 2025 ( a Japanese form of poetry which calls  for a succinct 5 lines.)  Thank you to Julie Thorndyke for her dedication in producing a tanka journal twice a year that always comes as a very thoughtfully and creative produced work.  And a special thanks to Pim Sarti for her illustration to partner  my tanka

Congratulation to all the poets included. I feel very honoured to be included.

Notre Dame spires

purple in the gloaming

beckon

one more trip I say

in these twilight days
